Getachew Patented Creativity Engineering is a social enterprise based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, led by Getachew Gebrehiwot, a highly passionate innovator. The journey began from a personal family situation, where a close family member became disabled and required daily care. In response, Getachew developed his first innovation—a Hygiene Bed—followed by a sanitation wheelchair. This experience sparked his dedication to addressing hygiene challenges faced by people with disabilities.
Over the years, the social enterprise has developed a diverse range of sanitation solutions designed for home use as well as for hospitals, care institutions, and both public and private sector environments.
Today, these solutions are actively used in leading healthcare and community institutions, including St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College, Yekatit 12 Hospital Medical College, Aabet Hospital, and Yeka Woreda 10 Health Center, as well as in community and religious spaces such as Medhane Alem Church (Lafto) and Baeta Mariam Church (4 Kilo), among others.

These innovations have been formally recognized with certifications from the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Authority, reflecting their originality and impact.
